He`eia Kea Pier General Store & Deli

Although I love traveling and exploring different cultures through its food and by meeting the locals, I always find comfort in my home state of Hawaii. I love that we have really good weather most of the year. I love the friendliness, The Aloha Spirit, of the people here. I especially love the food.

I felt that sense of home when I went with my husband and our youngest daughter to He`eia Kea Pier General Store & Deli. It’s a place that if you don’t know it’s there, you’ll totally miss it. But I hope you all get to make a trip out there.

The view from the pier is amazing. Definitely “Lucky We Live Hawaii” worthy.

So, obviously we made the trek out there not just for the view but for the food. I knew that I wanted to try the Cheek Eater Burger. If you’ve ever gone there, you may have noticed that this burger is NOT on the menu. It’s kind of a “secret” burger. Just ask for it and the chef will whip one up for you.

But beware; this is only for those who really like meat. Each Cheek Eater Burger is topped with at least 3 additional proteins. The homemade burger was placed between two pillowy soft and slightly sweet buns and topped with Portuguese sausage, crispy bacon, smoked meat, a yolky fried egg, Cheddar cheese, lettuce, and a special sauce. I told you. A meat lover’s burger.

The salty meats against that sweet bread were perfect together. And of course, we got a side of crinkle cut fries. As for our drink, we got a Green River. Does anyone remember that drink? I instantly went back to my childhood after one sip of that. It reminds me of a melted Otter Pop.

So, if you’re ever out near Kaneohe, head on over to He`eia Kea Pier General Store & Deli. Check out the view and get yourself some comfort on a plate. I know I will be back very soon.
